ralph lauren carpeting A few days ago found me in The big apple and in Philadelphia, working away at my book and doing my oldest friend as well as on some window shopping, too. A very good walk down Madison Avenue from the fall is definitely the good thing. As an excellent book store browse, a pokey coffee-brownie indulgence in the side street café, including a peek in a antique shop or two. We did the above in spades.
Within the inland northwest things that bring me more pleasure while in the city than shopping. Not real shopping, like buying, but leisure shopping, for example looking and touching. We need not, so I am rarely tempted. And positively not at Madison Avenue prices. Though the enormity of selection, the newness of collections along with the entertainment valuation on people-watching is way too wonderful to ignore.
So it was with very exciting that people ventured into and around the flagship Ralph Lauren store on 72nd and Madison (a must-stop on anyone’s agenda. No kidding.) It evokes awe. Masterfully designed, with gilded-framed oil paintings lining every wall, densely-piled carpeting lining each step and attentive sales assistants lining every aisle, one certainly glides throughout the store that on cushioned ballet shoes. It is challenging to escape without feeling better to have already been through it. To have tasted “Ralph’s” genius.
So, when i walked around the heavily-cushioned staircase walking on out, I could not help but sense that I saw it experienced civility at its Big apple best. That appreciation of detail and then to politeness was contained, if nowhere else, within four large walls on a single city block during my favorite city on the face of the earth.
My visit wasn’t long and it also became time will be able to retrieve my car at a soon-to-expire meter on Lexington Avenue. I walked quickly toward the exit so when I leaned from the heavy clear glass door onto the sidewalk, a gentleman (and was, indeed, a gentle man), called in the market to the 2 ladies were entering along at the exact time that I was exiting.
“M’am. M’am,” he called, shoving what would look like a ten-dollar bill towards them, as they quite simply looked back over their shoulders, puzzled. “One people dropped this to the sidewalk.”
ralph lauren carpeting I can hardly accept it. I said, rather softly to him, “Now there is a real gentleman,” but he either didn’t hear me, or he ignored me, as if to advise that chasing females who had dropped money from their wallets would have been a perfectly normal everyday course of action and that there might be no other alternative.
Lifting pennies on city sidewalks is often a silly move to make. But definitely off to the 1st child to cross one’s path can make it a profitable adventure. But collecting a ten-dollar bill and chasing down a ready-made stranger take back is virtually no common occurrence in a big city. And it caught me completely unawares. It gave me renewed faith in mankind. In young men generally. I smiled looking at mom who, a long time, somewhere, had–over the years–taught her son well.
Holding doors open if you are, shaking hands firmly, smiling while talking and expressing genuine thankfulness, are common wonderful gestures of civilized people everywhere. I vow to be effective on this week with my own personal brood. To make certain my boys understand how to treat teenagers and the my daughter understands how to treat teenagers. And to remind them from the rules. That they say i appreciate you for treats and then for gifts. Always. And don’t forget to post notes by hand. They will speak clearly to adults. And appear them in their eyes once they talk. How they each the product or perhaps the doorway cheerfully. ralph lauren carpeting ,Ralph Lauren.
